A fluffy reddish-apricot Gracie stands in the pen looking directly at the camera, her stuffed blue toy just behind her. Autumn leaves carpet the ground and a chain-link fence frames the scene as she raises one tiny paw. She had that alert, bright spark in her eyes right from day one.
